Rock Out

Red Rocks Music Festival

The Red Rocks Music Festival returns for its 18th annual season and is bringing top-notch musicians to Sedona. The Red Rocks Music Festival was originally founded to make up for the lack of summertime music festivals and aims “to educate, engage and challenge audiences through a collaboration of leading Arizona artists and world-acclaimed musicians.” And you can hear those musicians with your own ears all throughout September.

Listen to “East Meets West,” on Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sedona Creative Life Center. This concert features a mix of Chinese folk songs and classical music. Notable violinist Yibin Li is the featured artist of this performance. Enjoy “From Mozart to Gershwin and More” on Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre – the first time this venue has been used during the festival. Guest violinists David Ehrlich and Yibin Li will perform with principals from the Phoenix Symphony including Alex Laing on the clarinet, Christopher McKay on viola and Jan Simiz on the cello.

The final Sedona performance, “Polonaise-fantaisie: The Story of a Pianist,” takes place on Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sedona Creative Life Center. “Polonaise-fantaisie” combines a recital of short piano works from Bach to Chopin combined with autobiographical essays – both from artist and head of the piano department at UCLA, Inna Faliks.

General admission tickets cost $36 per person. Tickets for children ages 14 and under cost $14 each. For more information, call 602-402-4551 or visit redrocksmusicfestival.com.
