10th Annual Sedona Marathon Event

Happy 10th birthday to the Sedona Marathon! The race, organized by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, returns Jan. 31 at 9 a.m. with 3,000 runners and walkers expected to participate in the marathon, half-marathon, 10K and 5K races. The route begins and ends on Navoti Drive behind the Verde Valley Medical Center in West Sedona. An awards ceremony will immediately follow at the finish line. Celebrate your victory that night with a post-race party at Olde Sedona Family Restaurant Bar and Grill. An unofficial Big Game party will take place on Feb. 1. Visit the marathon’s website for details.

In keeping with tradition, a pasta dinner will take place on Jan. 30 at Olde Sedona. On that same day, participants can pick up their packets and enjoy the Sedona Marathon Event Expo at Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. And if you want to scope out the course and prepare for the race with fellow runners, join organized training runs Jan. 3, 10 and 17 at 9 a.m. The Sedona Marathon continues to serve, in part, as a fundraiser for area schools and participating nonprofit organizations, raising more than $10,000 for these causes last year alone.

Registration is still open for all races. For more information, visit www.sedonamarathon.com or call 928-282-7722. – Erika Ayn Finch. Photograph by Action Media LLC.
