Ghosts and goblins unite! Halloween is right around the corner, and the Verde Valley offers up something for all ages. First up is the City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department’s Pumpkin Splash, which takes place Oct. 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. Splash around in the community pool in your quest for the perfect pumpkin. The afternoon includes games, pumpkin decorating and a glow-in-the-dark bat cave. The event is limited to 300 people. All ages are welcome. Tickets are $3 each and go on sale Oct. 6. The 28th annual Safe & Fun Trick or Treat, hosted by Sedona Main Street, takes place on Oct. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Uptown Sedona. The historic mining town of Jerome is spooky no matter what time of the year, but it’s especially enjoyable to visit during Halloween. The Jerome Fire Department’s 40th annual Auxiliary Halloween Ball – dubbed the best costume contest in northern Arizona – happens Oct. 25 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Spook Hall.
