Mark Jude Belanger's Eco-Friendly Home ![]() This Sedona residence, designed and owned by local architect Mark Jude Belanger, is an interesting mix of southwest contemporary and mid-century allure. The home features a multiple of flat roofs that hold solar panels and collect rainwater into cysterns to irrigate the dry landscape. The split level upper floors introduce the mid-century twist, allowing for dramatic cathedral ceilings in all the bedrooms, as well as natural ventilation. The southern walls collect passive solar heat through glass sliders exhibiting stunning red rock views. Recycled blue jeans and newspapers insulate the home, including floors and ceilings. A large roof deck captures Sedona's dark skies and displays the Milky Way star system during summer months, while the full arch of the moon can be seen throughout the year. Painting is never needed, as low emission synthetic stucco with small amounts of recycled milk containers adorn the exterior. Truly an eco-friendly home that can adapt to the energy needs of the future. Belanger can be contacted at 928-301-6395.
